The 5 Freedoms

I was asked a very important question by one of the members of my team a few days ago.
“Why did you get into trading?” I immediately thought of why I got into anything... Trading, stage & FX lighting, catering, online retail, consulting, lecturing, public speaking...
I got into all of them for 3 main reasons:
1. I love it, or part of me did for the time being.
2. I saw value in growing it and helping others do it
3. I felt freedom while doing it... simply because I loved it.
Before I list the 5 Freedoms it needs to be said that they overlap. They need each other and without one or more, many of them fail.
What they all have in common is our love for what we do found through the freedom we feel while doing it. Why? Because we feel less coerced, more eager to wake up in the morning, and depending on finance, very well rewarded for our efforts.
Often in the pursuit of freedom we seek finances and never attain it. This (I feel, at least) is because freedom is more complex than simply having “fuck you money” but also about what you do in the process of getting the money.
It’s about whether or not your morals are being bent as you pursue it. It’s also about whether or not you even have the time or capacity to process your own feelings about what it is you do on a daily basis.
In our pursuit for freedom, we have to strike a balance between the 5 Freedoms or many of them will fail and the freedom we so desperately seek, could be an excess of one while dismally neglecting the other 4.
Freedom of Finance
(The ability to pay for & access whatever you want for you or your loved ones)
The Freedom of Time
(The ability to do what you want with your time without it directly impacting your ability to earn/accrue finances)
The Freedom of Voice
(The freedom to say whatever you want or believe without being censored or at risk of finances being cut off)
The Freedom to Empower
(The freedom to promote or empower those you see with potential into positions where they can excel)
Freedom of The Mind
(The freedom to stop... to think and observe the world around you and draw conclusions and potential solutions without a vested interest in the outcome)
