The "Why" Matters

Simon Sinek in his book “Find Your Why” refers to finding the purpose behind what we do and valuing it higher than the how; the same is true in business.
A few days ago, I released a video speaking about how my daughter questioned me on my ability to provide a job for someone who really needed it. In this moment the “why” of my consulting business was brought into context. If not to allow others the ability to empower their communities with opportunity what is its purpose. Is my business redundant according the reason it exists ? We need to ask ourselves this question irrespective of its industry or function. For too long industrialization has asked the question of profitability or rather “salability” before value. From this we have many “me too, copycat” businesses which are sustained but not necessarily value adding. They are simply there to provide competition, and even in this the prices are so closely set, they are nearly indistinguishable (E.g. the RSA cellular market).
What we need are entrepreneurs so focused on the value they add and the customers they serve that their existence is paramount to the success of the communities they come from.
In the Fundamentals 2020 bootcamp we specifically focus on helping businesses extract their most pure and authentic value and passing that on to their customers. Value is the way of the future; value is the business boom waiting to happen. Register Here
The world is quickly starting to see that large corporations have a vested interest in keeping wages low and prices high, while small business has the opposite agenda. For this reason, we look to partner with you and your small business in creating truly integral societal pillars.
In closing, don’t let the term “small business” fool you into thinking that you don’t have a significant role to play in the market. Small business is a threat to unemployment, to high prices, to lopsided collective bargaining. Small business is the empowerment communities truly need, that is our why.
